 AM or FM

If you can afford, then FM radios are the preferred choice for everyone, let it be surface, air etc.  But if you are low on budget, then AM can be considered, but only for surface frequency as it has shorter range. The AM frequency is more prone to interference then FM. Again, AM only recommended for surface models like RC Cars, RC Boat etc,  but if you are flying, even a glider, FM is your best choice to consider and nothing else. Also FM has long range and available in PPM/PCM modulation also, which are high resolution signals with fail safe options, some times, in-built within the receiver, especially of PCM receivers. But in AM radios, you have none of this options, but again, all depends on your budget and the model you are using.  One last thing, if you are buying a AM radio for your car, consider JR XR2, 2 channel computer radio, which is the best so far. Good luck on your purchase.
